We're pleased to announce Rotary South Pacific's Membership Director, David Barton who will guide the Membership Portfolio through the next phase of the Regionalisation Pilot in Zone 8 from 1 January 2026.
David will join other Regional Council members, Jennie Herring (Chair for 2026), Liz Courtnery (Learning and Development Director for 2026), Peter Rogers (Fundraising, Partnerships and Grants Director ), Edith Chaney (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director), Liz McDougall (Public Image and Marketing Director), Amanda Barnes (Service Projects and Programs Director), Stephen Lovison (Rotary Community Nominee) and Joe Martinovic (Rotaract Director).
Membership Director, David Barton
David Barton will drive initiatives to increase membership, decrease member attrition and create innovative membership experiences.Rotary Journey
David joined the Rotary Club of Melville in 1985 and continued to serve there till this day. He has held various Club positions including President, Membership Director, Club President and more. During this service as Membership Director, he grew his local club membership from 15 to 52 members.
David has also served as District Governor for District 9460, Chair of RAWCS, Director in the Rotary Corporate Alliance Program (RCAP) and member of the National Vocational Advisory Committee, as well as the participating on Council on Legislation. David is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow (1995, 2004, 2011). He will initially continue in his current role as Rotary Community Leader of D9423 South RCG.
Leadership Skills
David has a strong commitment to inclusiveness and prides himself on being a forward thinker. His focus has always been to ensure Rotary continues to thrive and expand within the Rotary South Pacific zone and looks forward to supporting Zone 8 in this capacity. Professionally, David has also held leadership positions as owner of a leading construction and development company and is currently a partner in a real estate company.

David received a Presidential Citation for Excellence from the Rotary Club of Melville (1996, 2020); The Allen Eddy Award for Outstanding Service (2004, 2009); Certificate of Merit for exemplary and unselfish service to District 9460 (2006); Distinguished Service Award for dedicated and long service to District 9460 (2009); and The Ken Collins Award (2021).
