Rotary collaborates with Kickstart for Kids to provide free breakfast and lunches to school children who would otherwise go without.
Kickstart for Kids provides 60,000 breakfasts and 10,000 lunches a week to underprivileged children in South Australia.
Hunger is a cause for distraction which takes away the children's focus at school.
“The kids that come with no breakfast certainly have no one at home making them lunch. So, all the work we do with our breakfast programs is undone by these kids not having lunch,” says Ian Steel, Founder of Kickstart for Kids.
“That’s where Rotary’s sandwich making program comes in and plays such a fantastic part in everything we do.”
“Hungry kids can’t concentrate,” says Mandy Carter, Immediate Past President of Henley Beach Rotary Club. “Providing sandwiches to all the kids ensures we get better educational outcomes and its better for the community.”
Each week, the Rotary Sandwich Program prepares around 1500 sandwiches, helping children stay nourished and ready to thrive.
